How to ‘Steal’ From the Best Reps
Brian LaManna
Lazy way: Slack the #1 performer seeking time to ‘pick their brain.’
Best way: Put in the work upfront, earn their respect, and then use their time to go deeper.
I follow this exact process too to learn from others at my org.
Show up with a point of view and very specific questions from what you already learned.
1. Identify one skill you want to improve – collab with your manager on it.
2. Identify who is the absolute best at this + matches up with your style (don’t pick an Enterprise AE, if you are a new SDR)
3. Slack them asking if they have a call or 2 they’d recommend + any resources they’ve created on it. Typically a recorded training, PPT, etc.
4. Put in the absolute work async to learn as much as possible
5. If needed, go back to that person and ask for 15 minutes.
Learning from top performer
Similar to how showing up with a point of view with customers is a way better approach than asking “So what are your top priorities?”
99% of top performers will schedule time with you.
Assuming you put in the work first.
